RCAM and MRA SCHOLARSHIPS

for Full-Time Students in Rehabilitation Programs

 

       The Rehabilitation Counseling Association of Minnesota (RCAM), a division of the Minnesota Rehabilitation Association (MRA), is pleased to announce the intention to award three Academic Scholarships to students pursuing an academic degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Rehabilitation Studies, or a similar major. Two scholarship awards are intended for Master’s-level students in, or preparing to begin the second year of study. One award is intended for a Bachelor’s-level student in, or preparing to enter the fourth year of study or preparing to enter a Master’s program in rehabilitation.  All three scholarships are funded primarily through RCAM, with support from MRA in the amount of $500.00.  Awards will be based on rankings related to the following criteria:

 

1.         Residency in Minnesota and/or membership in MRA.

2.         Enrolled full-time and pursuing an academic degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Rehabilitation Studies, or similar program at the beginning and throughout the 2007-2008 academic year.

3.         Grade point average (GPA) (must be at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale).

4.         Recommendation from faculty advisor and/or other faculty who provide instruction in the applicant’s degree program.

5.         Additional academic and/or professional references that the applicant submits.

6.         Brief discussion of how the award will contribute to the student’s ability to continue in his/her studies.

 

To apply, please complete the following:

 

1. Submit a brief (1-2 page) typed application that:

 

a) Confirms and discusses the above criteria (and includes an official or unofficial transcript for all work in the rehabilitation program completed to date at the time of application),

 

b) describes how and why a scholarship would reduce the financial burden in completing your studies,

 

c) discusses your interest and your plan in pursuing Rehabilitation Counseling as a career.

 

d) includes contact information including your full mailing address, phone number and e-mail address with submission.

 

 

2. Submit at least one letter of recommendation from a faculty member with your application.

      RCAM is designated to award these scholarships based on a review of all applicants. In order to be considered, applications must be received or postmarked before or on Monday, October 1, 2007. Scholarship recipients will be notified prior to the conference as soon as the selection has been made. Recipients will be announced and introduced on October 18th at the Awards Banquet during the Fall, 2007 MRA/Great Plains NRA Region Conference in St. Cloud.
